It all started with an ice cream cone…
In the Fall of 2011, while visiting my boyfriend in Nashville, Tennessee, I was eating an ice cream cone. It was the most glorious of all ice cream cones and I thought aloud, “I should start writing about how much I love food. I should start a food blog.”
I’ve been eating food for 21 years now, and I’ve been eating vegetarian/vegan food for about 6 years. I think this pretty much makes me an expert. At first, the idea of the blog was to eat out once a week and review the restaurants in the places I live and travel. (I frequent Nashville and live in Bloomington, Indiana). After my first review of that glorious ice cream cone, I realized…I really love to cook. This chain of events started The Hearty Herbivore.
I now review restaurants and recipes and share my own original recipes.
So a little about me. I am currently and Arts Management student at Indiana University-Bloomington. I’m also minoring in Studio Art (Graphic Design). My main goal in life is to go into marketing for the music world. I’m a really big nerd (I took a Star Trek class once. I got a B) and if I wasn’t studying art, I’d be studying History.
Originally, I’m from a very small town (one stoplight!) in the Greater Cincinnati Area. I grew up on a beef farm, and no, that’s not why I’m a vegetarian. When I first became vegetarian, I really loved the idea of saving animals. Now, I still love saving animals, but I’m more just in love with the idea of eating healthy and fresh foods.
